OWH Midweek Throwdown: Color Challenge TEAL!!!

Here are 2 cards I made for this weeks color challenge over at Operation Write Home.

The challenge was to use teal or turquoise.
I love teal...it's such a beautiful color.

I found some scraps laying next to my work table and had to use it for this weeks challenge. Anther exciting thing about this weeks challenge is The Scrap Wrangler Video!  It is soooo awesome. You gotta watch it. I learned much about how to organize my leftover scraps. Plus it helped me to make these cards in minutes.Thank you Sandy!!!

I also used Pagemaps card sketches too. Another time saver! Thank you Becky Fleck!!

Hope you enjoy my cards...I had fun making them.

Gosh 2 layouts this week!!!

I'm on a roll. Just about to start working on my 3rd one! I've so much enjoyed the inspiration from May Flaum's Creative Winter Retreat 2014 classes. This layout was inspired my Lisa Dickinson class; Go Round and Round where she features circles in her designs. Here is my take on her class:

Info about the photos: I found this beautiful selfie photo of my daughter Leia on my DSLR camera. I'm totally shocked that she could hold my heavy camera and get such a great shot of herself. The colors are so vibrant it's almost unreal. Leia is such a sweet girl and very very pretty, even if I say so myself.

Info about the material used: Most patterned papers are from MME 6x6 pads Darling Dear and Dolled Up.
Word Brads: Studio G and MME Sweetest Things. Letter stickers: Small Basic Grey, Gold; Pink Paislee Luxe.

Applying Paste to layouts for texture

Today, I had a chance to play around with paste to create texture on my scrapbook page. Learn this technique from Nichol Magouirk's class featured on Creative Retreat Winter 2014.

Funny thing...I bought texturizing paste about 3 years ago with the intentions to try it out on a page. Guess you can say I was ahead of the trend...just sad that it's taken me this long to do it! lol

I don't own any plastic templates currently in trend so I made my own using my Silhouette machine. To make the snow fall look, I cut various sized circles using a heavy weighted paper (110 lbs) to resemble snow falling. I used this as a template to rub the paste on to my page. It held its shape very well and I can reuse the faux template several more times until I buy stencil material from Silhouette stores. I took very little time to for the paste to dry and then I embellished the page. Using the paste was fun and super easy. Thanks for a great class Nichol.

Info about layout: My hubby had the bright idea to use the 4 wheeler to pull the girls on the sled. They had a blast going super fast rather putting down the hill with their own body weight. This was a fun day for all including our dog Roxie. She loves chasing the 4 wheeler.
